DCS Editor Experience: 30 hours. Created 4 playable missions including: Mountain Search and Destroy, Urban Airfield Defense, Combined Arms Assault. My missions were overly complex originally, but I've run an ArmA 3 clan for years and my concepts of mission design have greatly improved since then. In my experience with the DCS: Editor, I've implemented a number of borrowed community scripts including: Mechanized infantry, helicopter infantry disembarking, and others. While I haven't touched the DCS Editor in years (it's rather tedious) I'm sure that I could pick it up quickly to complete my application requirements at B.S.D.
Availability: Most days other than Saturdays at 2000 EST. Will vary between the week.
DCS Flight Hours: KA-50 Black Shark: 750+ Hours
Preferred Aircraft: Kamov KA-50
Expectations from BSD: Serious fun in my helicopters without annoying zoomies and everything that they ruin bring to a mission. I've always had the feeling that helicopters are largely ignored by the flight sim community, and I've had to retreat to ArmA (and real life) to get any usage out of the many hours I've spent mastering the KA-50. I hope that at the Black Shark Den, I can meet other like-minded and skilled sim-helicopter pilots who want to fly in challenging, diverse and cooperative environments. I have only been able to fly with other KA-50s 5 times in all my time owning the Black Shark since it was first released in 2008. This has been a source of significant frustration for me, and caused me to quit playing multiple times for months at a time. Here hope to not have to cater to people who want to fly planes, and fly with folks who just want rotors.
Other Information:
Skills which I may comfortably teach others:
- Slow and Scramble Take-off, Traffic Pattern, Landing, Basic flight (KA-50)
- Weapons Employment and countermeasures (KA-50)
- Datalink and Abris integration (KA-50)
- ABRIS and PVI-800 Waypoint integration (KA-50)
- Basic Attack Helicopter tactics (KA-50)
- Mission Design Philosophy (How to avoid overcomplex design, How to formulate a mission design)
Skills Which I need to learn from BSD:
- Basic Editor re familiarization (FARPs, qwirks, stability issues)
- Black Shark Den Standards for briefings, player count, any templates used by Black Shark Den for mission design
