Application for Dekgun (Dek for short)

Hi Deck and welcome!

Thanks for your introduction. We are usually flying around 2000 / 2100 EST weekdays so I hope this won't be too difficult for you to join. We are also flying during the weekends in the afternoons so our British pilots can join without having to stay awake until 3 AM.

I hope you don't mind if I don't write again all what I told to Babu this morning for his application (it's already 11 pm here). Overall, we are expecting a minimum of fluency in the chopper you want to fly. Huey is a good one to start with. It's simple and the flight model is realistic. Gazelle is the most difficult to master so far, but she does have multicrew and she is pretty fun.

For your introduction flight, cold start, patterns at a given altitude and speed, landings and hovering are the basics. I know cold starts (manual ones) are not popular, but it shows that at least you took time to learn where the switches are in your cockpit. This will save us time later for your training.

We are asking that our pilots are at least capable of producing simple missions. Nothing fancy with scripts and thousands of triggers, but at least know some basics about the mission editor. This is the simplest way of helping the BSD community to live and grow. So I can only suggest that you start to look a little bit at the many tutorials. Placing a couple of client choppers and some enemy shilkas around an airport is a 10 minutes job. This would be enough to have some fun with the BSD pilots.

We can setup your welcome flight during the weekend, like around 1700 PST ?

I actually love doing cold starts on the huey (gets me in the mind set for the task at hand) this weekend I am on duty for 48 hrs (sat and sun) I will be off mon - thurs and work fri and sat the following week off Sunday. 

I willdeffinately look into mission creating, and watch a few tutorials

i will try to get on at that time when I can (having a little one and ofcourse that is right about dinner time here in the good ol west coast lol. 

Also my oculus headset is expierencing an issue with one of the speakers not working, so I am sending it in to have it fixed/replaced so I will be out of commission for about a week or so. I will update

Hey Bad sorry, I just got your reply today. 

I am going to be grounded for a couple of weeks while my Oculus headset gets repaired/ replaced. 

I will reply on here when I get it back. 

Aaah, sorry to hear about that Deck.  Bad timing for your vr headset to let you down.

Great news, Dek! Gawd, am I an addict? I don't know what I would do if my headset went down! (Well, send it off for repair I guess....)

Deck, you can join Thursday training if you are available. After this one, we will program some sessions for getting to readiness level 2.
