Hi there

Here's my bid to begin the journey towards fame and fortune:

  • Callsign: MeerCaT
  • Age: How very dare you! ..ok, 40 on the outside, probably about 14 inside :)
  • Internet connection: Optic Fibre (73Mbps-down, 17Mbps-up)
  • Timezone:   GMT (Zulu)
  • Availability: Week - An hour or two many/most days (sometime between 18:00-00:00 GMT). Weekends - Often a few hours (12:00-18:00 GMT)
  • Flight hours in DCS: guesstimate in the region of 500-1000 (flying since 2011 with BlackShark1)
  • Knowledge of DCS Mission Editor: Comfortable with it but forever a student
  • Preferred chopper: It's not right to choose a favourite child, but like everyone else the beautiful bulbous curves of the Huey hold my affections while at the same time the Shark is very dear my heart as my original 'love bird' that drew me into this world.
  • Expectations w.r.t BSD: I'm a fairly quiet, but friendly, kind of chap looking to get a little more sociable within this hobby and passion of ours.
This looks like a mature but casual group with a lot to offer someone like me wanting to delve a bit more seriously into this kind of flying.
I hope I can provide a little something in return; Being a software developer by profession I'm not scared by the editor or dabbling in LUA, and I also love helping and mentoring those unfortunate enough to know even less than I do about a topic.

    Cheers gents (and gent-esses)!

    Welcome Meercat!

    Glad to have you along.

If you haven't yet, please join our Discord.

First thing first we will set up an introduction flight with you. It can be any time that you and an Unit trainer or Instructor pilot are free.

It gives you a good chance to see what we do, how we do and make up your mind if it is for you.
It also gives us a good chance to see where you are with your skills and what if anything you need to work on.
Very informal just a flight around the base and maybe a flight out to a ship and back. A chance to chat and get to know each other.

Once you decide you like what you see, you will be asked to join as a trainee. You will have access to all the documents and information to help you advance and learn the helicopters you fly.

The readiness level progression starts at RL3 and moves to RL1. We ask you at least attend twice a month to stay current on the training.
The more you are here and active the more you will learn and advance.

There are many knowledgeable pilots to help you along the way, any questions you have feel free to ask.

So let's start the first step and get a good time to do an introduction flight.

With BSD having both US and EU time zone flights even if you work odd hours you will be able to catch one flight or another.

    Welcome to the BSD.
