Golan UN Rescue

In August 2014, UN peacekeepers have been caught up in heavy fighting on the Golan Heights. While some were evacuated, the fate of several of them captured by the Syrian rebels remained uncertain.

Contact with 2 UN convoys were just lost 8 hours ago. Both were leaving from Camp Faouar UNDOF, the headquarters of the UN Disengagement force (UNDOF) in the buffer zone separating the Israeli-occupied part of the strategic plateau and the Syrian part were UNDOF soldiers and contractors might being held.
