Operation Barkhane H+0 BSD_EU

As part of the fallout from the BSD Operation Nashi, instability in central Iran caused by a rebellion against the temporary Iranian government in Bandar Abbas was exploited by Islamist groups who gained control over the northern half of the country. In response, NATO launched a military operation in January 2020 to stop the Islamist offensive from toppling the temporary Iranian government and to re-capture central and northern Iran. The operation, codenamed Operation Barkhane, is led by four NATO members: USA, Canada, France and UK. While France and UK are taking an active part in the combats, USA and Canada are officially providing the logistics.

The largest and most active Islamist group is hiding in the Lut desert, beyond the Zagros mountains, east of Kerman. But some smaller groups are also hiding in the Zagros mountains. Kerman airport is used by the coalition forces as a rear base to support the combats both in the mountains and in the Lut desert and providing logisitics to two French FARPS in Salaabad (Lut desert) and Hashtadan (Zagros mountains).

AVIATION MISSION:

Supply logistics and transport troops to FARPS.

Provide Close Air Support to French troops

Search and destroy enemy in the Zagros mountains
